Nolo Bait is an EPA registered biological control for grasshoppers, including Mormon crickets. Nolo Bait contains naturally occurring Nosema locustae spores. As Nosema locustae builds up in the gut of heavily infected grasshoppers the insects become lethargic and reduce their feeding. Infected grasshoppers are seen by healthy grasshoppers as additional food sources and are cannibalized. This natural behavior further spreads Nosema locustae throughout the grasshopper population.
Infected females can pass the spores through the egg-laying process. The progression and persistence of this organism provides long-term benefit to the landowner without environmental damage.
Nolo Bait is dry and flaky. This means it can applied with any dry flowable applicator that has a feed mechanism that allows for bran flakes. Nolo Bait should be applied at a minimum rate of 1 pound per acre per application. Heavier application can be applied to densely populated areas if needed.
Nolo Bait is EPA registered, NOP compliant, and approved organic pesticide. Nolo Bait is completely safe to use around humans, pets, birds, and wildlife. Nolo Bait also won't harm beneficial insects.
